Bihar Tragedy: 3 Dead, 12 Hospitalised Due To Food Poisoning at Govt Shelter Home In Patna

Patna: Three people died and 12 ors fell ill from suspected food poisoning at a state-run shelter home in Patna., an official said on Wednesday.

“ incident happened at home of differently-abled woman, Asha Grih, at Patel Nagar in Shahstri Nagar police station area,” District Magistrate Chandrashekhar Singh was quoted as saying by news agency PTI.

According to officials, victims reported uneasiness after consuming breakfast on November 7.

A 24-year-old woman passed away on November 7 at Patna Medical College and Hospital, followed by death of a nine-year-old girl on November 10, and a 12-year-old girl who died on Wednesday evening.

shelter home is operated by Social Welfare Department.

Singh mentioned that several individuals who fell ill are still receiving treatment at Patna Medical College and Hospital.

He stated that exact cause of incident is yet to be determined and that a high-level inquiry has been initiated.

“A five-member team has been formed to probe incident with an ditional district magistrate as its he,” District Magistrate said.

"It will soon submit its report. Strict action will be taken against all those found guilty," he said.
