In a bizarre tweet, former Jammu and Kashmir CM Mehbooba Mufti wrote about India's defeat in the World Cup match against England linking to the Orange jersey controversy.

The PDP chief has said that Team India switching to their new Orange jersey had to do with them breaking their streak of being undefeated in the series until now.

The controversy had begun four days ago when Congress opposed the "Orange" colour of the jersey sported by Virat Kohli and his team on June 30 at Edgbaston.

In a massive controversy over Orange jersey, senior Congress MLA Nasim Khan had attacked Modi government, saying that "saffron politics started since Modi government has come to power".

"Whether it is sports or culture, Saffron politics has been started in this country since the Modi government has come to power. The Tricolor should be respected. This current government is trying to saffronise everything which is highly problematic," said the Congress MLA.

SP leader Abu Azmi had also termed it as "injustice" that Orange colour is being alotted to Men In Blue for the World Cup match against England, demanding the people to oppose it.

"Today the orange colour that is being given to the team, Modi ji the one who gave the colours for the flag as a Muslim. If you want to give a colour to Team India, then give a colour of the country's flag, then I will be okay. But if you will give the colour Orange to everything then it is totally injustice and it is totally wrong. People should oppose it," the SP leader speaking to media.
