BJP Appoints Amit Shah, Mohan Yadav As Central Observers For Haryana Ahead Of Oath-Taking Ceremony
The BJP parliamentary board on Sunday appointed Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav as central observers for Haryana
Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Madhya Pradesh CM Mohan Yadav have been appointed as the central observers for the election of the state legislature party leader in Haryana ahead of the swearing-in ceremony of the new government. The BJP parliamentary board on Sunday announced the appointment of Amit Shah and Mohan Yadav. Earlier, Union Minister Prahlad Joshi and BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh were appointed by the parliamentary board as observers to elect the legislature party leader in Jammu and Kashmir, the party national general secretary Arun Singh said in a statement.
Notably, the BJP secured a third term in the assembly polls in Haryana after the results of the assembly elections were declared on October 8. The ruling BJP won 48 seats out of 90 member Assembly House against the Congress , which managed to win only 37 seats.
Haryana CM's Oath-Taking Ceremony Likely On Oct 17
The caretaker chief minister Nayab Singh Saini was declared the CM face of the party before the assembly elections in the state. According to the Election Commission of India (ECI), Saini won the Ladwa assembly constituency by defeating Mewa Singh of the Congress by a margin of over 16,000 votes.
The ruling BJP secured a surprise hat-trick victory defying exit poll result that predicted the return of the opposition Congress to power. Despite lagging in early trends, the party staged a remarkable turnaround to win 48 seats in the 90-member state assembly.
The oath-taking ceremony of the new Haryana cabinet will take place on October 17 and Prime Minister Narendra Modi will attend the ceremony. The event will also be attended by several CMs from BJP -ruled states.
In the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections, which took place in three phases along with that of Haryana , the National Conference (NC) emerged as the single largest party with 42 seats and comfortably managed to get a majority to form the new government in the Union Territory. The NC will form the government with its alliance partners Congress and CPI(M), who managed to win six and one seat respectively.
The BJP bagged an all-time high of 29 seats in the Jammu and Kashmir Assembly elections. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) also opened its account in Jammu and Kashmir, winning from the Doda Assembly constituency.
