New Delhi: BJP President and Health Minister JP Nadda, on Thursday, will convene the party's final Parliamentary Board meeting along with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The meeting will also be attended by Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh, and Road, Union Minister for Transport and Highways Minister Nitin Gadkari among others before the new president for the party is chosen.

Race for Party Chief Intensifies

As the race to head the saffron party intensifies, sources suggest that the BJP has got in touch with the RSS to scout for a suitable candidate as Nadda's tenure comes to an end on June 30.

While the party's General Secretaries Vinod Tawde and Sunil Bansal are the top brass' favourite picks who might get appointed as Executive President as they have proved their mettle in the party, reports suggest that the RSS is keen on fielding either Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Rajnath Singh for the top post. Besides, the Modi-led party might give Nadda a short extension as the BJP President to avoid confrontation with the RSS.

Nadda Appointed As Leader of House in Rajya Sabha

Health Minister JP Nadda, on Thursday, was appointed leader of the House in the Rajya Sabha on the first day of the 264th session of the Upper House. "Shri Jagat Prakash Nadda has been appointed as the Leader of the House in the Council of States," Chairman Jagdeep Dhankhar announced, amid thumping of desks. PM Modi was also present in the House when the announcement was made. The BJP had earlier decided to appoint Nadda as the leader of the House and the same was conveyed to the Rajya Sabha.
