Video: Councillor Thrashes Local Woman Protesting Wall Removal in Varanasi

New Delhi: Dramatic scenes unfolded on the streets of Varanasi after a BJP councillor came to blows with a local woman. According to sources, BJP councillor Kanaklata Mishra wanted to remove a wall for a sewer line.
Mishra lost her cool when a woman, caretaker of the property, protested the move. The incident is said to have taken place at Durga Ghat area on Wednesday.
Soon after a heated argument ensued between the duo which snowballed into a physical altercation. The incident which was caught on camera was widely circulated on social media.
In the video, the women can be seen hitting each other. The councillor of Bindu Madav ward was seen continuously slapping the woman and attempting to pull her hair as she pushed her back.
After the duo faced off, people standing nearby intervened to control the situation. The woman also pushed the BJP leader against the wall.
The councillor was heard saying, “ You have had enough.” More details are awaited.
