'Sonia Gandhi is misleading and provoking people over CAA': BJP's Mukhtar Naqvi

Union Minister of Mirity Affairs, Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi on Sunday slammed opposition for generating fear in minds of people and instigating violence amid unrest in country over Citizenship (Amendment) Act. Naqvi said that opposition is misguiding people over issue. Slamming Sonia Gandhi, Naqvi said that she is provoking people rar than appealing for peace.

Speaking to media, Naqvi said, "Be it issue of CAA or NRC, it is very clear that with a blanket of lies, one cant hide truth. But re are people who are attempting to use lies to hide clear truth. y are trying to misguide people and also generate fear in minds of a certain part of society. But let me tell you, y will t succeed in ir means. Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Amit Shah have clearly stated that re is question on citizenship of Indians. re must t be any fear in Indian citizens regarding it. Unfortunately Sonia Gandi for past few days, inste of appealing for peace, she is rar provoking people. For this, we need to come toger and show our strength and showcase our brorhood."

On Saturday, Naqvi h expressed anguish over Sonia Gandhi’s televised mess expressing solidarity with protesting students across nation. He accused her of provocating inste of calming situation down.

Talking about violence during anti-CAA protests, Naqvi said, “Unfortunately, some people are provoking violence inste of trying to bring back peace in country. We thought Congress President will appeal for peace, but appeal seemed more like a provocation than call for peace. You can understand motive behind it. I think brorhood is strength of this nation and that is what our PM propagates.”

As uproar over Citizenship Amendment Act intensifies, Congress President Sonia Gandhi expressed solidarity with students who are protesting against Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA). She released a video statement on Friday. interim Congress President in video lashed out at BJP government over 'divisive politics and brute repression' against youth and citizens across country.
"In a democracy people have right to raise ir voice against wrong decisions and policies of government and register ir concerns. BJP [Bharatiya Janata Party] government has shown utter disregard for people's voices and chosen to use brute force to suppress dissent," Sonia Gandhi said.
