The doctors have been protesting in the state since a week after an intern doctor in NRS Medical college in Kolkata was physically assaulted by a patient's family after he died on Monday.
The MP from Asansol appealed to the doctors to get back to work saying that their cause was valid but their action resulted in the suffering of other patients including small children. He asked them to resort to official channels and even said that they could protest by denying service to the state police and gheraoing them as well as Mamata Banerjee who is the Health Minister.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee had earlier on Thursday has ordered junior doctors to resume their duties within the next four hours. She warned them that they will be asked to vacate their hostels on June 13 if they did not pay heed to her diktat.
Following her warning, there was a mass resignation from Sagar Dutta Hospital in which three assistant professors, one professor, and four doctors reportedly quit.
