BJP's Rajib Bhattacharjee wins Tripura's lone Rajya Sabha seat by 37 votes, with 47 MLAs supporting him.

In a closely watched election, Rajib Bhattacharjee, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) minee, secured a victory in Tripura's lone Rajya Sabha seat on Tuesday. Bhattacharjee, who is also state unit president of BJP, won by a margin of 37 votes.
Out of 60-member assembly, Bhattacharjee garnered support of 47 Members of Legislative Assembly (MLAs), while CPI(M) candidate Sudhan Das received 10 votes. Congress, which holds three seats in assembly, chose to abstain from voting.

"Bhattacharjee, as expected, won Rajya Sabha seat as all MLAs from ruling alliance voted for him," stated Deputy Speaker Rampras Paul to PTI.
Following his victory, Bhattacharjee expressed his gratitude to legislators who supported him. "I am thankful to all those MLAs who have supported me in election and also extend special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, and BJP national president for keeping faith in me," he said.

Bhattacharjee, who h contested in last year's assembly elections but did t win, reassured that his focus as a member of upper house of Parliament will be on development of Tripura and its people.
This victory solidifies BJP's position in state and highlights party's continued influence in Tripura's political landscape.
