Hooghly MP and state BJP general secretary Locket Chatterjee also shot out at TMC over protests saying, "When BJP protest n re is pandemic law but when TMC protest pandemic law is t re. Earlier, West Bengal BJP chief Dilip Ghosh said Kolkata Police is working like TMC cre and Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee is scared of party.

Violence in Kolkata, heated exchanges
Clashes broke out between West Bengal Police and BJP workers as saffron party leers launched ir 'Nabanna Chalo' march against 'worsening' law and order situation in state. While Mamata Banerjee's ministration h denied permission for march, BJP workers tried to break through barrices even as state secretariat Nabanna remained shut. Subsequently, police resorted to water canns and lathicharge to disperse mob.

Police alleged that COVID-19 pandemic protocol was t being followed. However, refuting claims, Kailash Vijayvargiya said that all workers are wearing masks. Or party leers alleged that TMC workers, with tacit support from police, hurled stones while reports stated of crude bombs being hurled at policemen, which BJP denied.
BJP president JP Nda later in day lashed out at Mamata Banerjee government and TMC for unleashing "brute force" upon BJP workers in an attempt to prevent m from holding protests against CM's "tyrannical and bloodied misrule" in West Bengal.

"Beating up peaceful protestors, hurling country-me bombs and using water cann on ir protest march show Mamata Banerjee’s frustration because she kws that her days in power are numbered and people of Bengal have me up ir mind to throw out her tyrannical government,” Nda said in a series of strongly-worded posts on Twitter.
West Bengal government h cited pandemic to deny permission for a major garing during BJP youth wing's scheduled "March to Nabanna" on Thursday and h said peaceful and democratic rallies within "permissible parameters" of only 100 people would be allowed. government h also anunced that Nabanna will be shut for two days from October 8 "for sanitization purpose".

As per reports, several police and RAF personnel were also injured in clashes while BJP, on or hand, claimed that over 1,000 of its party workers received injuries and over 500 of m were detained during protests.
