'Will Mamata Dare to Throw...': BJP Takes a Dig at Bengal CM After TMC Min Threatens Female Officer

New Delhi: The spokesperson of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) Shehzad Poonawalla has taken a dig at West Bengal CM and TMC Chief Mamata Banerjee, asking her if she will remove Akhil Giri from his position.

Akhil Giri, a TMC minister has been in the news for threatening to beat a female forest officer with a stick.

BJP Takes Dig at TMC Over Akhil Giri Threatening Female Forest Officer

Shehzad Poonawalla has said that the way Trinamool Congress (TMC) minister Akhil Giri behaved with the female forest officer is proof that the political party's culture and mentality is ‘Talibani’. 

Condemning the threats, misbehaviour and abuses hurled at the female officer by the TMC minister, Poonawalla said that this is proof that there is no ‘Maa Maati Maanush’ in Bengal, instead, only those are being saved who carry out bomb blasts, are corrupt and are rapists.

Shehzad Poonawalla said that this is the reason why TMC is saving leaders like Shahjahan; he also brings up the Sandeshkhali issue. 

The BJP spokesperson also asked Mamata Banerjee if she would remove Giri for his disgraceful act or will she let this pass; he also questioned the leaders of INDI Alliance including Rahul Gandhi for their silence on this issue.

Mamata Banerjee Asks Akhil Giri to Resign

While on one side Shehzad Poonawalla questioned Mamata Banerjee whether she will remove Akhil Giri or not, on the other side, in a major development, Akhil Giri has been asked to resign.

This comes after he was widely criticised for his behaviour with the female officer; this order comes from the West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee.

What Did Akhil Giri Do? Know the Matter

TMC leader Akhil Giri had a heated argument with a female forest officer Manisha Sau because she evicted encroachment on government land.

Akhil Giri was heard as saying, “Please cooperate with everyone. You won’t be able to stay for long. Your longevity is seven to 10 days. I am aware of the corruption in the forest department. I will spill the beans in the legislative assembly. You don’t know me. I threw a sub-divisional police officer (SDPO) into the sea.”

Threatening the officer further he said, “She doesn’t want to listen to anybody. It seems she had come with the powers of the president. Just watch what happens to you this week. We are taking 25 feet (of forest land). If you come here, you won’t be able to go back. You are a government worker. Talk with your heads down.”
