BJP to corner AAP govt in Delhi Assembly over JNU sedition case

AAP's "drama" over grant of full statehood and the delay in granting sanction for prosecution in the JNU sedition case will be highlighted to corner the government during Delhi Assembly's budget session which starts on February 22, BJP leader Vijendra Gupta Thursday said.

AAP's "drama" over grant of full statehood and delay in granting sanction for prosecution in JNU sedition case will be highlighted to corner government during Delhi Assembly's budget session which starts on February 22, BJP leer Vijendra Gupta on Thursday said. 

Gupta, who is also Leer of Opposition in House said BJP will force Aam Ami Party (AAP) government to answer about delay in granting sanction for prosecution in JNU sedition case.

Delhi Police in January filed a charge sheet against former Jawaharlal Nehru University Students' Union (JNUSU) president Kanhaiya Kumar and ors in sedition case registered in 2016.

police also charged former JNU students Umar Khalid and Anirban Bhattacharya for allegedly shouting anti-India slogans during an event on university campus on February 9, 2016, to commemorate hanging of Parliament-attack mastermind Afzal Guru. 

Delhi Police has sought permission from city government for prosecution in case which is still pending.

Gupta said BJP legislators will also raise issue of telephone calls being me to voters to misle m that ir names have been deleted from electoral rolls in Delhi.

"drama" of ruling AAP over full statehood will also be highlighted in budget session, Gupta said.

"This is an excuse by Kejriwal government to avoid answering questions over its failures in past four years," Gupta told reporters.

After Patiala High Court told Delhi police to obtain sanction for its 2016 JNU case charge sheet from Arvind Kejriwal government, Delhi chief minister has given a statement over issue, claiming that case is being "studied" by government.

While speaking to media, Kejriwal expressed his dubiety, considering timing of charge sheet being filed ahe of Parliamentary elections. 

He said, " case is being studied by government. Police took three years to file charge sheet and y filed it without permission, ahe of elections, so it raises many questions."
