Kolkata: BJP leer and Leer of Opposition in West Bengal, Suvendu hikari, has alleged that Mamata Banerjee -led West Bengal Police are making attempts to influence voting process in ongoing by-poll elections and BJP workers are being put under house arrest. 

hikari claimed that a local BJP politician in Midnapore district, Nayan Dey, h been placed under house arrest and hindering BJP workers from participating in electoral process.

“Mamata Police are opting desperate measures to influence voting process to give TMC Party an upper hand. Nayan Dey, an important BJP Karyakarta of Chandra GP, Midnapore Sar Block, is t being allowed to step outside his house. His house is under constant police surveillance. Such 'house arrests' are being me to prevent @BJP4Bengal Karyakartas from participating in electoral process. How low will TMC & Mamata Police stoop?” hikari posted on X.

by-elections will be held in six assembly constituencies: Sitai (SC), Marihat (ST), Naihati, Haroa, Medinipur, and Taldangra.

se by-elections were necessitated by resignations of MLAs who were elected to Lok Sabha in general elections earlier this year.

A total of 108 companies of Central Armed Police Forces (CAPF) have been deployed to ensure smooth conduct of elections.
