Abrogation of Article 370
On August 5 this year, the Government of India, abrogated Article 370 of the Indian Constitution and went on to bifurcate the state of Jammu and Kashmir into two union territories. Subsequently, the state witnessed curfews in the form of a communication blackout that the government introduced to evade any untoward incident. Additionally, various political leaders such as Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti were put under detention in order to prevent escalation of any situation that would incite violence, the government had said while talking about the issue.
