BJP's Amit Malviya rakes up Bofors over SC Rafale verdict, takes on Rahul 'Rajiv' Gandhi

As the SC dismissed the review petitions in the Rafale case, BJP's Amit Malviya criticised Rahul 'Rajiv' Gandhi and claimed that PM Modi is "incorruptible."

As Supreme Court gave a clean chit to Modi government by dismissing review petitions in Rafale case against its December 14, 2018 judgment, BJP's IT cell he Amit Malviya criticised Rahul Gandhi and claimed that PM Modi is "incorruptible." In a tweet, BJP's Amit Malviya raking up Bofors scandal in an attack to Rahul Gandhi and former PM Rajiv Gandhi stated that legacy is 'exclusive to his family.' Moreover said that along with country, even Supreme Court has rejected Rahul Gandhi's "lies of Rafale"

"People of India rejected Rahul Gandhi's lies on Rafale at hustings and w even Supreme Court has dismissed review petitions in matter. Rahul 'Rajiv' Gandhi learnt hard way that Bofors legacy is exclusive to his family and PM Modi is incorruptible," [sic] Amit Malviya said.

Bofors scam was connected to a $1.4-billion howitzer deal between Indian government and Swedish Arms manufacturer Bofors in 1986. As per case, Swedish company allegedly paid off former PM Rajiv Gandhi on deal to purchase Bofors guns. 

Rafale deal verdict

top court rejected plea that re was a need for registration of an FIR in connection with Rafale deal. five-judge bench comprising CJI Ranjan Gogoi, Justices S K Kaul, and K M Joseph prounced contentious judgment. Justice Kaul, prouncing judgment said that Court found " merit" in review petition. Supreme Court furr said, "This Court did t think it appropriate to embark on roving and fishing inquiry."

In May 2019, a three-judge bench h reserved verdict in petition seeking review of earlier December 14 judgment on government-to-government deal to procure 36 Rafale aircraft. 

During Rafale hearing, Supreme Court h looked into three aspects of deal - decision-making process, pricing and choice of Indian offset partner. It h found occasion to doubt decision-making process and said it didn't find anything wrong in selection of Indian offset partner by manufacturer Dassault. On third criterion, it h said it wasn't its job to go into pricing aspects.
