On Friday, BJP working president JP Nadda attacked West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her opposition on the abrogation to article 370 and reportedly said 'the time of her government is over'. Furthermore, he said that it was only a matter of time until the BJP came to power in West Bengal. He also questioned whether the vote bank was bigger for her than national interest.
"I want to ask Mamata ji today, is country bigger or vote bank politics? Is power more important than the nation? She should answer why her party opposed the move to integrate the country. When the country is strong and united, then only people in the normal course of things come to power or go out of power," Nadda alleged.
Power more important or nation, asks JP Nadda to Mamata Banerjee
Addressing a gathering in Kolkata, BJP leader JP Nadda criticised Mamata government for opposing Article 370. Mamata Banerjee had earlier commented that the abrogation was done due to "undemocratic means". However, she reportedly had not opposed the abrogation.
"They are deliberately misleading the country. Article 370 never gave a special status but was a temporary provision. Article 370 was meant to introduce the Constitution of India into J&K. In the instrument of accession, J&K was termed as a state in the union of India," he reportedy said.
The working BJP President added that Mamata Banerjee failed to support the abrogation, saying with this decision, the entire country now comes under one constitution.
Mamata governance no more needed in West Bengal, says Nadda
In a tweet posted by Nadda, he alleged Mamata Government was corrupt with opposing and negative views. Freeing West Bengal from her governance is the BJP's aim, he added.
Nadda also hit out at former Jammu and Kashmir Chief Ministers and said that Farooq Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti had misled people by spreading false notions about the withdrawal of special status by Article 370 abrogation. He also criticised Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, saying that Gandhi’s statements were used by Pakistan to make false accusations against India at the United Nations.
