BKU(L) writes to Delhi Police, seeks permission to shift protests at Ramlila Ground

With impasse between Centre and farmers' unions continuing, Bharatiya Kisan Union (Lokshakti) - one of protesting factions - has written to Delhi Police Commissioner seeking permission to continue agitation at Ramlila Ground in national capital. Citing Supreme Court direction, BKU(L) President Shyoraj Singh has urged Delhi Police Commissioner to allow protests at Ramlila so that citizens do t face any difficulties.
"While Supreme Court has stayed three farm laws, during hearing it h suggested our counsel to shift our protests at a specific site designated by Delhi government and police like Ramlila Ground so that demonstrations can continue peacefully. As President of BKU(L) to grant us permission to continue our protest at Ramlila Ground peacefully to uphold sanctity of Supreme Court," NKU(L) letter to Delhi Police re.

While staying implementation of farm laws on Tuesday, apex court h also suggested protesting factions to shift protests to a designated site, after consulting Delhi government and police. Supreme Court on Tuesday suspended implementation of three controversial farm laws until furr orders and formed a four-member committee to hold talks and resolve stand-off between farmers and Centre. unions have been demonstrating against three contentious farm laws for nearly two months at borders of national capital.

10th round of talks ends inconclusively
On Friday, Centre's 10th round of talks with farmers' unions concluded with a detailed discussion on all three farm laws especially Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020. Speaking to media, Union Agricultural Minister Narendra Singh Tomar stated that deliberations were held in a cordial atmosphere. Observing that Ministers including Union Commerce Minister Piyush Goyal and MoS Commerce Som Parkash tried to dress concerns of farmers, he ackwledged that agreement could t be reached. next round of talks will be held at on on January 19.

Meanwhile, Union Agriculture Minister Narendra Singh Tomar has said that Centre has sent a proposal to unions on Sunday. He ded that government has agreed to dress ir concerns over mandis and trers' registration amongst or things.

"We h sent a proposal to farmer unions in which we agreed to dress ir apprehensions regarding mandis and trers' registration among or things. government has also agreed to discuss laws on stubble burning and electricity but unions only want repeal of laws," Tomar told ANI.
