Guwahati: In a tragic road accident, four children were killed after being hit by a speeding vehicle on the National Highway-17 near Assam 's Dhubri district.
The deceased have been identified as Maryam Khatun (10), Zubair Hussain (7), Mehdi Hassan (5), and Abu Rihan (40 days).
Police said that the driver of the car, Bishal Agarwal, a resident of Dhubri has been apprehended by along with his car.
4 Children Killed After Speeding Vehicle Hits Them At NH-17
A case has been registered and further investigation is underway, officials said.
Earlier in July, six people, including an 18-month-old child and three women, were killed in a tragic head-on collision between an autorickshaw and a speeding car in Assam ’s Karimganj district, according to police.
The incident occurred around 12:30 PM on NH-8 near Nilam Bazar, as confirmed by Karimganj Superintendent of Police Partha Pratim Das. "Six individuals, including a one-and-a-half-year-old boy, lost their lives in the accident. Two others are in critical condition and receiving treatment," Das stated.
The deceased have been identified as Jaheda Begum (25), Bedana Begum (50), Ruhul Alam (30), Gulzar Hussain (30), Hasena Begum (50), along with the infant. The victims included five family members and the autorickshaw driver, Ruhul Alam. The driver of the car and a passenger are also hospitalized.
