The Karnataka government has declared a holiday for all schools and colleges in Bengaluru on Wednesday. This comes in response to severe rainfall that has inundated parts of the city. Urban district collector Jagadeesha announced the decision following an orange alert issued due to ongoing heavy rains, which are expected to persist over the coming days.
The rains, which began early Tuesday morning, have led to significant waterlogging and traffic disruptions across multiple locations in the tech capital.
In light of the adverse conditions, companies have been advised to allow employees to work from home where possible.
While schools remain closed, many have been instructed to conduct online classes for higher-grade students.
Additionally, Thursday, October 17, is already a designated state holiday for Valmiki Jayanti, further extending the break for students.
