Defence Minister Rajnath Singh Admitted to AIIMS, Condition Stable Now
Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was admitted to AIIMS Neuro Surgery Department on Thursday.

New Delhi: Defence Minister Rajnath Singh was admitted to AIIMS Neuro Surgery Department on Thursday after his health deteriorated suddenly. According to AIIMS media cell in-charge Dr Rima Dada, the BJP leader is stable and under observation. The 73-year-old was admitted early in the morning and is in the Old Private Ward as he complained of back pain, reported PTI quoting hospital officials. Officials have said that Singh is stable but will be kept under observation. He was admitted in the Old Private Ward.

Rajnath Singh, a Member of Parliament (MP) from Uttar Pradesh's Lucknow, on June 1, 2019 became the Minister of Defence for the first time. Singh assumed charge as the the Raksha Mantri for the second consecutive term on June 13, 2024.

Singh has openly stated the fact that the vision for the next five years and his focus will be on carrying forward the priority areas with trust and to make the nation more secure.
“Under the leadership of Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, our aim will be to further strengthen the security apparatus of the country, with focus on achieving self-reliance in defence manufacturing. Armed Forces modernisation and the welfare of the soldiers, both serving and retired, will continue to be our main focus," said Singh

Singh was inducted into the Union Cabinet in the first term of Prime Minister Narendra Modi as the Minister of Home Affairs.
Singh who served as a member of the Committee on Ethics in 2009 was also elected into the Lok Sabha in the same year. Singh was born on July 10, 1951 in Chandauli and later pursued a Master's in Physics from the University of Gorakhpur and was a teacher by profession.
