Thane gas leak: A major gas leak at a chemical company in Thane on Thursday gripped residents in panic as the leak caused reduced visibility and caused discomfort. The gas leak was reported from a chemical company located in the Ambernath City in Thane district. 

“Gas leakage occurred while a chemical company was venting gas in the Ambernath area of ​​Thane district, and gas spread throughout the area. As soon as information about gas leakage was received, fire brigade officials reached the spot”, stated Ambernath Fire Brigade service

 Concerned authorities have urged the residents to stay indoors even as emergency teams have arrived on site.

The incident reportedly occurred in the Ambernath city of Thane district where a gas leak was reported from a chemical company in Morivali MIDC.

The authorities have also started an investigation into the cause of the incident. There were no casualties or injuries reported immediately after the incident. 

Several visuals have also surfaced on social media showing foggy roads and low visibility as a thick layer of gas engulfed the city. However, the authenticity of the videos is not yet confirmed. 

The residents reportedly complained of eye irritation and throat discomfort. An official statement on the gas leak is yet to be issued. 

Further details are being awaited regarding the incident.
