Prayagraj Train Attack: Windows Broken, Several Injured After Stones Pelted at Mahabodhi Express

Prayagraj: A case has been registered after stones were pelted at the Mahabodhi Express in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj. The stone pelting has broken train windows and injured several passengers.

Stone Pelting at Gaya-Bound Mahabodhi Express

Stone pelting was reported at the Gaya-Delhi Mahabodhi Express; the incident took place in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh when unidentified miscreants threw stones on the guard brake of the train.

Windows Broken, Passengers Injured

The incident happened on Monday night when the Gaya-bound train was at Prayagraj Junction near the Yamuna Bridge. As per reports, 40-50 stones were thrown which resulted in the breaking of the train windows and injured several passengers. 

The stone pelting caused panic and the passengers began to scream during the stone pelting; by the time CRPF soldiers reached the spot, the train had already left the station. A case was then registered.

Case Registered Against Unidentified Miscreants

According to the CPRO, NCR, a case has been registered against unknown miscreants for pelting stones on the guard brake of Mahabodhi Express while it was entering Mirzapur station. 

The case was registered at the post, Crime No. 511/24, Section 153 147 Railway Act. Further details awaited.

In another news, five wagons of an empty goods train derailed at New Maynaguri station in Alipurduar division, in West Bengal. The CPRO has also said that the trains have been diverted through alternate routes and movement has not been affected. Senior officers including DRM Alipurduar have moved to the site. Restoration work is going on.
