BREAKING: Huge Protest In Shimla Over Construction Of Mosque In Sanjauli

Shimla: A huge protest erupted in Himachal Pradesh's Shimla on Thursday, against the alleged illegal construction of Sanjauli Mosque. BJP workers, Hindu organisations and locals joined the massive protest to oppose the construction of the religious structure. 

Visuals have emerged from the protest site wherein a massive crowd can be seen raising slogans.  

Heavy Police Force Deployed in Shimla Amid Protest

Meanwhile, heavy police force has been deployed in the area to maintain law and order. The massive protest also caused traffic jams in the area. Media reports suggested that it also disrupted the movement of some ambulances moving throguh that area. Locals have given a two-day ultimatum to demolish the structure. An MC court is likely to deliver verdict on the matter on Saturday. 

The anger among locals was evident on Sunday as well as a sea of people took to streets against the construction of mosque and an attack on a trader in Malyana area of the city. 

According to media reports, nearly 500 people from different parts of the city participated in the demonstration during Sunday's protest. The protesters expressed concern over the rise in population of migrants belonging to the minority community in Shimla, and also demanded police verification and registration of these "outsiders".
