Mumbai: A fortnight before Maharashtra Assembly Elections 2024, in a major step, Election Commission of India (ECI) has ordered immediate transfer of Rashmi Shukla, Maharashtra DGP following complaints from Congress and or political parties.

Ahead of Maharashtra Assembly polls, Election Commission on Monday directed state government to transfer DGP Rashmi Shukla with immediate effect following complaints from political parties, including Congress , sources said.

During a recent review meeting, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) Rajiv Kumar warned officials to t only be impartial and fair but also ensure that y are perceived as n-partisan in ir conduct while carrying out ir duties.

As per latest reports, Vivek Phansalkar has been given additional charge after Rashmi Shukla's transfer. poll body had directed Maharashtra chief secretary to hand over Shukla's charge to next senior-most IPS officer in cadre. chief secretary was also directed to send a panel of three IPS officers by Tuesday afteron for appointment as DGP, sources said.
