Massive Blast Occurs at IOCL Refinery In Vadodara's Koyali: 1 Dead, 2 Injured

Vodara: A powerful blast at IOCL refinery in Koyali area of Gujarat's Vodara on Monday resulted in death of one person and injuring two ors. According to reports, several or people also received mir injuries during explosion, which occurred in stor tank of refinery. blast triggered a major fire, which engulfed refinery resulting in a thick cloud of smoke emanating in sky.

On information, Vodara district ministration, fire services and local police rushed to spot and initiated a rescue operation. Several fire engines were deployed at site to control fire.

According to a statement from IOCL, fire broke out at around 3.30 pm. “Today, a fire was reported at around 3:30 pm in a Benzene Stor Tank (1,000 KL capacity) at Gujarat Refinery. refinery’s emergency response team is actively tackling situation, with firefighting operations currently underway. jacent water sprinkler system has been activated to contain fire, and dousing efforts are ongoing. cause of fire is yet to be ascertained,” re statement.

Officials ded that between 6 pm and 8:30 pm, sounds of two more explosions were reported from inside refinery.

DCP Traffic Police Jyoti Patel said, "Rescue operation is going on in refinery. We have information on any serious injuries or fatalities in incident. We will kw about fatalities as operation proceeds. Traffic movement on route is minimal so we did t have to do any diversions."
