Ex-BJP Mandal President Munna Sharma Shot Dead in Patna

Patna: Former Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP ) mandal president Munna Sharma was allegedly shot dead after he reportedly resisted a chain snatching on Monday morning.

Following the incident, Sharma was rushed to the hospital for treatment where he was later pronounced dead by doctors, news agency ANI reported.

The SHO, Shashi Kumar Rana said that the police received information about the incident at around 6:15 in the morning on Monday that Sharma was injured near a restaurant in the area.

Chowk Police Station SHO Shashi Kumar Rana said, "We received information around 6.15 am that a man, Munna Sharma was injured by criminals near a restaurant. He was rushed to a hospital by his family where he died while under medical treatment."

He further added that the officials have obtained CCTV images of the area and a thought investigation is underway to identify the accused and take actions accordingly.  

"CCTV footage around the spot of crime is being examined and other technical investigation is being undertaken. Further action is being taken," the senior official said. 

Speaking on the incident, the leader of the opposition in the assembly Tejashwi Yadav of the RJD claimed that the incident showed crime was flourishing under the NDA government in the state.

"The state government, under the leadership of Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar , has miserably failed to check the deteriorating law and order situation in the state. CM and NDA leaders are clueless about the collapsed law and order situation in the state. Criminals are killing people… the CCTV footage shows how criminals are running away after killing BJP leader," he said on X.
