BREAKING: Narendra Modi Sworn In As India's Prime Minister For Rare Third Term

Narendra Damodardas Modi took oath for the third consecutive term as the Prime Minister of India on June 10, Sunday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan.

New Delhi: Narendra Damodardas Modi took oath for third consecutive term as Prime Minister of India on June 10, Sunday at Rashtrapati Bhavan. He was ministered oath of office by President Droupi Murmu. Along with Modi, senior BJP leers Rajnath Singh, Nitin Gkari and Amit Shah also took oath as cabinet ministers, while party president J P Nda returned to cabinet after five years, indicating Prime Minister's focus on continuity and experience in his third term. Nearly 9,000 people were estimated to be present at forecourts of Rashtrapati Bhavan to witness swearing-in ceremony.

Modi, 73, first became prime minister in 2014 and n returned to office in 2019. He is second PM after Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected for a third consecutive term. He was re-elected to Lok Sabha from Varanasi. PM Modi chose a white kurta and churidar with a blue chequered jacket as he took oath for consecutive third time.

Top leers from India's neighbourhood and Indian Ocean region -- Maldives President Mohamed Muizzu, Banglesh Premier Sheikh Hasina, Nepal Prime Minister Pushpa Kamal Dahal 'Prachanda', Sri Lankan President Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth, Bhutanese PM Tshering Tobgay and Vice-President of Seychelles Ahmed Afif -- were special guests at function.

In dition to political leers and eminent persons from different walks of life, members from transgender community as well as sanitation workers and labourers, who were involved in construction of new parliament building, also attended swearing-in ceremony of Modi and new council of ministers.
