Tirupati Laddu Row: Supreme Court Orders Fresh Probe, Constitutes CBI-Monitored SIT
During today's Supreme Court hearing in the Tirupati Laddu Row, the apex court has ordered constitution of an independent SIT to conduct a thorough probe.
New Delhi: The Supreme Court of India has ordered for a fresh probe in the Tirupati Laddu Row and has constituted an independent SIT; the top court has also mentioned the list of members of this SIT.

During the hearing in the Tirupati Laddu Controversy, Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Vishwanathan have directed the constitution of an independent SIT to probe the case.
Justice Gavai said, “We suggest independent SIT. It can have 2 from CBI, 2 from State govt, and 1 from FSSAI. Can keep matter pending.”
'We Do Not Want To Turn This Into Political Drama': Supreme Court
While directing for the constitution of an independent SIT, the Supreme Court also said that this step is to keep this issue from turning into a political drama. The top court said that they will have more confidence in an independent SIT.
The Court said, “We do not want this to turn into a political drama.. this is about sentiments about crores of people all over the world… Fortunately-unfortunately both are warring groups…”
Supreme Court Lists Members of Independent SIT for Tirupati Case Probe
The apex court has listed the members who will be part of the independent SIT for probing the Tirupati Laddu Controversy.
The court said, “In order to assuage...We find that investigation should be conducted by an independent SIT, consisting of reps of state police, CBI and FSSAI.”
The apex court further said, "We direct the SIT to have:
- 2 officers of CBI nominated by Director
- 2 officers of AP state police
- 1 senior officer of FSSAI
‘Tirupati Laddu Controversy Just Tip of Iceberg’
In another news, Andhra Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan has said that the laddu adulteration issue is just a tip of the iceberg and there are many more decisions taken during the previous regime that have to be investigated.
"Laddu prasadam adulteration is a tip of the iceberg. We don’t know how many crores of rupees they collected during the tenure of (the last) five years. That has to be investigated," the Deputy CM said. "Eminent people of this nation, let me tell you what exactly the previous government and the leader was. The previous chief minister is trying to act innocent," he added.
