India, along with the world clocked into new year 2025 with fireworks, lightshows, spiritual events as part of celebrations.

MP Nagar ACP Akshay Chaudhary said, "In view of the new year, we have set up checkpoints and checking is being done at various places... This prevents people from drinking and driving and reduces incidents... Action will be taken against those who drink and drive..."

Sanjay Kumar ADG Law and Order, Odisha says, "For this new year celebration the entire town of Puri is geared up. A large number of people have gathered here for the celebrations...All the security arrangements have been made and we hope everyone will enjoy the New Year...300 police personnel have been deployed for the smooth operations..."

On security arrangements for New Year celebrations, New Delhi DCP Devesh Kumar Mahla says, "We have made extensive arrangements this time in view of the New Year. More than 600 policemen have been deployed and several companies of CAPF have also been deployed... Women personnel have also been deployed for women's safety ..."

 On 'Pujari Granthi Samman Yojna', Congress leader Sandeep Dikshit says, "... This should have been announced before... It is a political gimmick to announce it right before the Delhi Assembly polls... Even clerics have not yet received their due salaries for the past 1.5 years... They (AAP) are so desperate and worried (about their loss) that they are bringing such schemes again and again..."

On Atishi's letter to LG, he says, "... This is all because of the elections... The committee for religious architecture are set up along with the Central government... They (AAP) do not have any control or understanding of what should be done... They send a letter to the LG on the issue they want their votes on... I do not see any seriousness from Atishi on this..."

Protests against the Rajasthan government's decision to abolish nine newly-created districts continued for a third day on Tuesday, with protesters in one district launching a hunger strike while those in another announcing an indefinite shutdown.

The state government on December 28 decided to abolish nine of the 17 districts created by the previous Congress dispensation, saying they were neither practical nor in public interest.

Three new divisions -- Pali, Banswara and Sikar -- were also dissolved in a Cabinet meeting chaired by Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. The state will now have seven divisions and 41 districts.

Protesting against the decision, some people in Neem Ka Thana district have started a hunger strike. In Anupgarh, an indefinite shutdown has been announced against the government's move.

To manage surge in tourists visiting the Taj Mahal on the New Year, the Agra police have taken a slew of measures which include deployment of a quick response team near the premises of the monument, officials said on Tuesday.

Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Agra Circle, has cancelled leaves of its staff deployed at the monument.

According to officials, about 40,000 tourists are visiting the monument daily since the start of December and the number could further rise on Tuesday, the eve of New Year, and the following day.

"Huge footfall of tourists can be seen these days at the Taj Mahal. The monument will witness such rush till January-end," Prince Vajpayee, senior conservation assistant at Taj Mahal, told PTI on Tuesday.

"To tackle the rush, leaves of the ASI staff have been cancelled. If needed, we will deploy more staff," he said.

On CM Atishi's letter, LG Secretariat said, "Neither any Temples, Mosques, Churches or any other place of worship being broken/demolished, nor has any file to this effect come. CM is playing cheap politics to divert attention from her and her predecessor CM's failures. It was already implemented in Goa and Uttarakhand passed the act. The matter is pending with the Law Commission of India... Also, the 'One Nation, One Election' is very important, JPC was formed and the first meeting is going to be on January 8... It was introduced in the Lok Sabha on December 17 and now it is with the JPC. We have taken a lot of steps in this regard. It is practical and it will not harm the federal structure. It will not take away the rights of the voters or the states... The process will be carried out according the Article 368 of the Constitution... The Opposition also wants that the Lok Sabha and the state elections are held together..."

On the security arrangements for New Year's Eve, Chandigarh SP Kanwardeep Kaur says, "Chandigarh Police has made elaborate arrangements for the New Year's celebrations. More than 2000 police personnel will be deployed... The extra force will be deployed in crowded areas... The borders would be sealed..."

On preparation for New Year's celebration, Commissioner Gaurav Dayal says, "... We are fully prepared and expecting more pilgrims... The public amenities are being upgraded for their convenience... Crowd management and security is being taken into cognizance..."

On security measures ahead of New Year's Eve Celebrations, DETC East Amit Bhatia says, "We have made three teams in Gurgaon-east to ensure that bars and restaurants don't operate after the time limit and to prevent illegal sales... 9 contractors have paid 25% of their annual fees, which is approximately Rs 40-50 lakh, to operate for extra time. About 72 bars and restaurants have also paid for extra time. Their annual fees to be open from 12 midnight to 2 am is Rs 20 lakh and Rs 5 lakh per hour annually. The rest of the places can not stay open post-midnight..."

When the Arvind Kejriwal government is formed in Delhi,  every temple and Gurudwara priest will get Rs. 18,000 under this scheme..."

Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) of the Ministry of Earth Sciences, Jitendra Singh on Tuesday said that the SpaDeX mission is named as ‘Bharatiya Docking Technology’ because it is purely an indigenous mission and India is carrying out first such experiment related to docking technology. An elephant calf that got separated from its mother in the Varapalayam area, was rescued by the forest department staff in Coimbatore and has found itself a new home at the Theppakadu Elephant Camp.
