The swearing-in ceremony of AAP leader Atishi as Delhi chief minister and her council of ministers will be held at Raj Niwas on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Officials at the lieutenant governor's office said President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Atishi as chief minister of Delhi from the date of her being sworn in and has also accepted Arvind Kejriwal's resignation.

The President also cleared the appointment of five ministers and the oath-taking ceremony will take place at 4.30 pm at Raj Niwas, they said.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Jammu on Friday night ahead of the hectic day-long campaigning on Saturday during which he will address five public rallies in three districts of Jammu and Kashmir. Shah arrived here from Delhi and drove straight to the State Guest house, a senior BJP leader said.

Wrong-side driving on Delhi roads has seen a 20.63 per cent spike since last year, according to data shared by the Delhi Police. "Last year we have sent 1,24,593 notices to the people who were found violating the norms. This year a total of 1,03,283 notices were issued for the same purpose," a senior police officer said.

 A section of railway employees have written to Union Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, demanding the productivity-linked bonus they receive each year before Dussehra should be calculated based on the Seventh Pay Commission instead of the sixth.In the letter to Vaishnaw, National General Secretary of Indian Railways Employee Federation (IREF) Sarvjeet Singh said the minimum payment of productivity-linked bonus (PLB) is being made based on the minimum salary of Rs 7,000 per month of the Sixth Pay Commission.

The Supreme Court on Friday dismissed a plea against the anti-defection law (Tenth Schedule) of the Constitution. The law brought in 1985 by the 52nd constitutional amendment deals with situations of defection in Parliament or state legislatures by members of a political party, independent members and nominated members, and lays the grounds for disqualification of the members.

Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested a family member of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds with the fintech company, police said on Friday. Deepak Gupta, who is a brother-in-law of Grover, was arrested on Friday and produced before the court from where he was sent to police custody for five days, they said.         Gupta was named in the FIR which was registered against Grover, his wife Madhuri Jain and their family member in May 2023 in the Rs 81-crore fraud case, a police officer said.

The Supreme Court on Friday questioned the last-minute changes to the NEET-PG, 2024, pattern by the National Board of Education, saying it was "very unusual" and students could have a "meltdown".A bench headed by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud took note of the submissions of senior advocate Vibha Datta Makhija and lawyer Tanvi Dubey, appearing for the students, and sought responses from the National Board of Education (NBE) and the Centre within a week on the pleas while listing them for hearing on September 27.
