Atishi to take oath as Delhi CM at Raj Niwas on Saturday afternoon

The swearing-in ceremony of AAP leader Atishi as Delhi chief minister and her council of ministers will be held at Raj Niwas on Saturday afternoon, officials said.

Officials at the lieutenant governor's office said President Droupadi Murmu has appointed Atishi as chief minister of Delhi from the date of her being sworn in and has also accepted Arvind Kejriwal's resignation.

The President also cleared the appointment of five ministers and the oath-taking ceremony will take place at 4.30 pm at Raj Niwas, they said.

 Madhya Pradesh's commercial capital Indore will observe 'no car day' on September 22, Mayor Pushyamitra Bhargava said on Friday and urged citizens to use other environment-friendly modes of transport to make the move a success. Last year on 'no car day', 12 per cent cars in the city were off the roads, leading to 80,000 litres of fuel being saved, dip in sulphur monoxide emissions by 5.5 per cent and overall air pollution by 18 per cent, Bhargava said.

The official details of the timing of the oath ceremony are awaited as the process for gazette notification for resignation of outgoing chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, formation of the new government and oath of the new chief minister are still underway, they said.

BharatPe fraud case: Delhi Police EOW arrests Ashneer Grover's family member

Delhi Police Economic Offences Wing (EOW) has arrested a family member of BharatPe co-founder Ashneer Grover in connection with the alleged misappropriation of funds with the fintech company, police said on Friday. Deepak Gupta, who is a brother-in-law of Grover, was arrested on Friday and produced before the court from where he was sent to police custody for five days, they said.         Gupta was named in the FIR which was registered against Grover, his wife Madhuri Jain and their family member in May 2023 in the Rs 81-crore fraud case, a police officer said.
