Baramulla: A terrorist was reportedly killed in Jammu and Kashmir along the Line of Control (LoC) in the Kamalkot area of Baramulla's Uri Sector after the security forces opened firing following suspicious movement along the LoC in a bid to foil the infiltration attempt. The firing led to the eruption of an encounter in the Uri Sector, during which a terrorist reportedly sustained fatal injuries.
The Indian Army personnel and the Jammu and Kashmir police have launched a search operation in the area and troops have been put on alert to check any suspicious movement near the LoC in the Kamalkote area of the Uri sector. It is being said that the encounter is underway at the site after the security forces challenged the intruders.
The intruders opened firing which was retaliated by the Army jawans, officials said, adding one infiltrator was believed to have been killed.
However, the body of the slain terrorist has not been recovered yet due to difficult terrain, they said.
It is suspected that around 3-4 terrorists have been trapped at the encounter spot.
The operation was in progress when the last reports were received.
