NIA Probes Terror Angle After Train Accident Leaves 19 Injured in Tamil Nadu

Chennai: The National Investigation Agency visited and inspected the site of accident to investigate whether there was any conspiracy behind the incident involving the Bagmati Express from Mysore to Darbhanga on Friday night.
The collision occurred between Ponneri and Kavarapettai railway stations in the Chennai Division, from 45 Km from Chennai, where the Mysuru-Darbhanga Express rear-ended a stationary goods train.
The NIA has requested information from safety officials, and a dog squad also inspected the site. The NIA is gathering details to determine if anything suspicious was found.
As a result of the collision, 19 passengers were injured. Relief and restoration efforts are ongoing, and all passengers have been evacuated.
Meanwhile, a total of 12 people were detained and over 100 people have been questioned in connection with an attempt to derail the Bhiwani-Prayagraj Kalindi Express in Uttar Pradesh's Kanpur. Later, a team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) also joined the probe.
The Kalindi Express, which was travelling from Prayagraj in Uttar Pradesh to Bhiwani in Haryana , hit an LPG cylinder placed on the tracks in Kanpur's Shivrajpur on Sunday before coming to a halt. No passengers were injured in the incident.
