Kolkata: In a latest update in the Kolkata Rape and Murder Case, the prohibitory orders around the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, where a trainee doctor was brutally raped and murdered, have been extended till September 30.
Prohibitory Orders Around RG Kar Extended till Sept 30
Prohibitory orders around the RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in north Kolkata were extended till September 30, an officer said. The orders, which were first imposed on August 18, restrict gatherings of more than five people in the designated area. The restrictions were imposed amid protests over the rape and murder of the doctor at the hospital.
The prohibitory orders issued under Section 163 (2) of BNSS would also be in place at the Shyambazar five-point crossing, besides the roads leading to the RG Kar hospital, said a notification. "Carrying sticks, dangerous and lethal weapons are banned and any attempt to disturb peace and tranquillity will invite legal prosecution under Section 223 of the BNS," it said.
The CISF was given the charge of the security of the hospital by the Supreme Court.
Calcutta Police Installs CCTV Cameras at Protesting Sites
In a latest development, the Calcutta Police has installed CCTV cameras at various protesting sites in the West Bengal capital where the agitating doctors are demanding Justice for Abhaya. The CCTV cameras have been installed by the Kolkata Police at the protesting site and nearby areas of Swasthya Bhawan, Salt Lake, where junior doctors are continuing their protest against the RG Kar Medical College & Hospital rape-murder incident.
Court Turns Down Narco Test Request After Sanjoy Roy Refuses
The main accused in the RG Kar Rape and Murder Case, Sanjoy Roy has refused to undergo a narco analysis test as part of the investigation being conducted by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). The probe agency had sought permission from Sealdah Court for the narco analysis test of the accused which was turned down by the court because Roy himself refused to do so.
