New Delhi: With rural poor in focus, Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led council of ministers held its first cabinet meeting on Monday, during which newly-formed government decided to provide assistance for constructing three crore ditional rural and urban houses under Prhan Mantri Awas Yojana (PMAY).

Here are key takeaways from Modi 3.0's first Cabinet Meeting:

  • central government will provide assistance to three crore ditional rural and urban households for construction of houses, to meet housing requirements arising out of increase in number of eligible families under PMAY.
  • government is implementing PMAY since 2015-16 to provide assistance to eligible rural and urban households for construction of houses with basic amenities. 
  • Under PMAY, a total of 4.21 crore houses have been built for eligible poor families under housing schemes in last 10 years.
  • All houses constructed under PMAY are provided with basic amenities including toilets, LPG connection, electricity connection, functional taps etc. through convergence with or schemes of both central and state governments.

This was first meeting of Union Cabinet of Modi 3.0 government held at Prime Minister's 7, Lok Kalyan Marg residence. meeting was attended by ministers of all allies of National Democratic Alliance (NDA).
