SpiceJet Under Enhanced Surveillance by DGCA Amid Financial Strain
SpiceJet had to cancel flights from Dubai due to non-payment of dues. The audit uncovered "certain deficiencies" in the airline's operations.
SpiceJet has been placed under "enhanced surveillance" by the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA). This decision follows recent reports of flight cancellations and ongoing financial difficulties facing the airline. Earlier this month, the DGCA initiated a special audit after it was reported that SpiceJet had to cancel flights from Dubai due to non-payment of dues. The audit uncovered "certain deficiencies" in the airline's operations.
The DGCA has now imposed enhanced surveillance on SpiceJet, effective immediately. This increased oversight will involve more frequent spot checks and potentially night-time audits to ensure the airline’s operational safety.
"In light of the past record and the special audit carried out in August 2024, SpiceJet has once again been placed under enhanced surveillance with immediate effect. This would entail an increase in the number of spot checks/ night surveillance to ensure the safety of operations," the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) said in a release.
