Earlier, Israel launched its biggest-ever airstrike on Beirut in almost a year of conflict striking the Hezbollah Headquarters where Hezbollah chief Hassan Nasrallah was killed by the Israeli strikes.
The Israel Defence Forces(IDF) said on X that it has killed senior leader Nabil Kaouk, a key figure within the Iran-backed militant group and a potential successor to Hassan Nasrallah.
Kaouk, who is the commander of Hezbollah's Preventive Security Unit and a member of its Central Council, was targeted and eliminated by Israeli fighter jets under the precise direction of military intelligence, stated the IDF on post on X.
"The IDF will continue to strike and eliminate the commanders within the Hezbollah terrorist organization and will act against anyone who threatens the citizens of the State of Israel.", said IDF further.
Meanwhile, Israeli airstrikes have resulted in over 600 deaths in Lebanon, marking one of the deadliest bombardments in nearly a year. The Israeli military has urged residents in southern and eastern Lebanon to evacuate as it prepares to intensify operations against Hezbollah.
Earlier, Lebanon experienced a ‘pager attack,’ reportedly involving the hacking and sabotaging of Hezbollah’s encrypted communications network including pagers , widely believed to be carried out by Israel’s intelligence agency Mossad.
