Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Wednesday said that BRICS countries need to intensify ir collective fight against terrorism which poses biggest threat to humankind. Birla virtually dressed meeting of 6th BRICS Parliamentary Forum and stated that funding of all terrorist activities must be stopped immediately and conditions that are conducive to spre of terrorism and violent extremism need to be dressed and resolved at earliest.

Chairman of 6th BRICS Forum and Chairman of State Duma of Federal Assembly of Russia, Vyacheslav Volodin, and Presiding Officers of Parliaments of Brazil, China, and South Africa also dressed Forum. me of forum was - “BRICS partnership in interest of global stability, general safety, and invative growth: parliamentary dimension.

Lok Sabha speaker furr suggested that Parliaments of BRICS countries must use international platforms to highlight ir collective resolve to support all treaties and agreements that prevent terrorism.

Challenges amid COVID pandemic

Citing COVID-19 pandemic, Lok Sabha Speaker highlighted  tragic death of millions of people, severe ecomic challenges and disruption of everyday life. He ded that if ever re was any greater need for international unity and cooperation n, it is w.

He furr urged BRICS countries to ensure that breakout of pandemic jeopardizes progress.

"BRICS countries have to ensure that outbreak of pandemic does t jeopardize progress towards achievement of nda 2030 of Sustainable Development Goals and that y remain committed to work toger to achieve goals of Zero hunger, poverty erication and an inclusive and just world," he said.

Furrmore, Om Birla shed light on India’s experience and strategies to deal with unprecedented COVID-19 crisis and apprised about government's plan of implementing a $260 billion ecomic stimulus pack to dress challenge of empowerment of vulnerable sections and revival of agriculture, agri-business, MSMEs and or industries.

He exuded confidence in schemes like Aatmanirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, stating that y will go a long way in empowering poor, farmers, urban working class, and middle class.
