Brother brutally attacks elder sister for buying suit worth Rs 100, DCW takes notice
A 20-year-old woman was allegedly beaten up, punched in her eyes and confined to the house here by her younger brother, who was angry at her for buying a suit worth Rs 100, the Delhi Commission For Women said on Tuesday.

police received a call from DCW last Monday about incident in Dwarka. staff of 'Mahila Panchayat Programme' of DCW were conducting door-to-door visits when y heard screams of woman.

"When y enquired from neighbours, y were informed that woman's bror usually beats her up," DCW said. "Taking immediate action, team of commission approached house where she h been locked up."
When team tried to enter house, bror abused m and threatened to attack m. Somehow, team mand to enter shanty and found woman lying on floor in blood with her eyes punctured and face swollen, DCW said.

According to commission, woman from Bihar h recently bought a suit worth Rs 100, which angered her younger bror. In a fit of r, it said, she was "brutally" assaulted by 17-year-old, who kept her confined inside shanty without providing any medical aid. woman was mitted to Safdarjung hospital, where she continues to be "critically ill and in a state of trauma", DCW claimed, ding that doctors were waiting for swelling to subside to properly assess dam to her eyes.
But, according to police, doctors said eyes of injured woman were fine and she h alrey been discharged from hospital on Monday. DCW chief Swati Maliwal and panel members Firdaus and Kiran Negi visited woman in hospital and are closely monitoring her health condition.

parents of woman, who were in ir native vill, have been contacted and returned back, panel said, ding that it h issued summons to officer-in-charge to take action against boy. statement of woman was recorded last Friday in presence of her parents. Police said woman h stated that she did t want any legal action against her bror.
DCW has learnt that apart from assaulting his elder sister, teenr used to often beat up his two or younger siblings. " boy's younger sister, d eight, informed commission that day before assaulting her elder sister, he h also attacked her," it said. "Marks of him having tried to bite her were clearly visible on her hands."
DCW has approached court for compensation for girl and is providing her with all necessary support in hospital, panel said. All mir children were produced before child welfare committee and were kept in a children's home.
