Brutal murder of senior journalist Gauri Lankesh

Senior Karnataka journalist Gauri Lankesh was murdered on Tuesday evening at her Raja Rajeshwari Nagar residence. According to reports, at around 6.30 pm, unidentified men shot at Gauri and wounded her fatally before escaping from the scene. 
 

According to initial reports, the assailants knocked on her door and shot her dead
 

According to reports, seven bullets were fired in all. Four bullets missed, and three hit her.

CM Siddharamiah addresses the media; says that police has formed three teams and a probe has been initiated.

On being questioned about #GauriLankeshMurder, Bengaluru Police Commissioner said, "no personal information of any threat, will be examining it."

Noted journalist and left-wing activist Gauri Lankesh was shot dead at her Raja Rajeshwari Nagar residence in Bengaluru on Tuesday.  According to reports, she was shot at by unidentified men at around 6.30 pm. Seven bullets were fired in all.

Rahul Gandhi also took to Twitter to express his condolences. "The truth will never be silenced. Gauri Lankesh lives on in our hearts. My condolences &love to her family. The culprits have to be punished."

"As the President of the Press Club of India, I think that it is a sad day for democracy and freedom of press. A journalist who exposed the wrong doing of the country was shot dead. It is difficult to accept this as a journalist," he was quoted as saying by ANI. 

"I think all the journalists would come together and protest, and demand the arrest of the culprit," he added.

In a series of tweets, Congress leader P. Chidambaram on Wednesday wrote  "Gauri Lankesh was afraid of no one. Who was afraid of Gauri Lankesh?"

Gauri Lankesh known as a fearless and outspoken journalist was shot dead by two bike borne men on Tuesday. Born in the year 1962, she was a journalist turned activist from Bengaluru. Her father was a famous poet-journalist who started the Kannada language weekly tabloid Lankesh Patrike. Taking after her father Gauri was a firebrand.
