BSF & Bangladesh troops exchange sweets on Diwali in Siliguri

The Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Sunday exchanged sweets with Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) at the Indo-Bangladesh border at BOP Fulbari in Siliguri

Border Security Force (BSF) troops on Sunday exchanged sweets with Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) at Indo-Bangladesh border at BOP Fulbari in Siliguri.  exchange of sweets between soldiers of two friendly neighbouring countries comes as a goodwill gesture on occasion of Diwali. BSF troops also exchanged sweets with BGB at Akhaura integrated check post on Friday before Diwali.

Border Security Personnel in Jammu and Kashmir lit earn 'diyas' and lamps on eve of Diwali in Samba District. BSF personnel also recited Bhajans (devotional songs) and or songs to celebrate festival. 

"I thank God that we got an opportunity to work for our nation, wearing this uniform. BSF personnel celebrate Diwali toger like a family. re is need to fear when BSF is here for people,y should celebrate Diwali with joy and enthusiasm," said a BSF officer. "We do miss our families but we are so lucky to work for our nation and its citizens, everyone doesn't get this opportunity," he added.

Border Security Force personnel at Jammu and Kashmir's Poonch District also held Diwali celebrations. officers celebrated festival with sweets and were also seen dancing to songs.

Diwali festival of lights

Diwali is celebrated with great fervor and gaiety across India. As per Hindu mythology, festival marks return of Lord Ram after his victory over demon king Ravana in distant Lanka, as well as culmination of his 14-year-long exile. Lord Ram is widely regarded as reincarnation of Lord Vishnu in Hinduism.

Diwali is also celebrated to hour Goddess Lakshmi, Hindu deity of wealth and prosperity and consort of Lord Vishnu. It is believed that Goddess Lakshmi blesses those homes that are clean and well lit. On Diwali, people illuminate ir houses with coloured lights and earn lamps.
