New Delhi: A first-ever all-women mountaineering team of the BSF will be flagged off from Delhi on Monday for an expedition to a peak located in Uttarakhand.
The contingent of 12 female mountaineers are aiming to scale the Mount Mukut East located at a height of 7,130 metres (23, 392 feet) and unfurl the national and the force's flags on the summit, a BSF spokesperson said on Sunday.
Acting BSF Director General DG Daljit Singh Chawdhary will flag off the team on Monday from the BSF headquarters in Delhi.
This expedition carries the message of women empowerment and spreads the messages of 'Swachh Bharat-Swachh Himalaya' and 'Hum Fit-Toh India Fit', the spokesperson said.
The BSF, with the strength of about 2.65 lakh personnel, is primarily tasked to guard the Indian fronts with Pakistan and Bangladesh, apart from rendering a variety of duties in the internal security domain of the country.
