Punjab CM Captain Amarinder Singh on Wednesday called out on Congress MP Partap Singh Bajwa for supporting the Opposition in attacking Congress government on the sensitive Bargari issue. He further accused the Congress MP of 'strengthing the hands of forces trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state."
Hitting out at Bajwa for being a party to the alleged propaganda unleashed by the Opposition, Capt Amarinder said the Congress Rajya Sabha MP had behaved in an imbecile manner.

"Bajwa had played into the hands of the Akalis, who had been persistently trying to scuttle the Bargari sacrilege case probe, as well the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) which was desperate to grab at any straw to find its feet in the state, especially in the run-up to the Assembly by-poll in four constituencies," Capt Amarinder said.

"With his remarks, the Congress MP had strengthened the hands of forces trying to vitiate the peaceful atmosphere of the state, which was finally moving towards progress and development after a dark 10-year period," he added.
Capt Amarinder said that by critising him and the Punjab government over a headline, Pratap Singh Bajwa had jumped the gun, thus lacking maturity and political understanding.

"I would like to ask Bajwa and other people who were quite quick on attacking me based on a newspaper headline, did they even read the interview on which it was claimed to be based?" Capt Amarinder Singh asked in his statement.

The Punjab CM further asked Pratap Singh Bajwa if he could highlight event one sentence that could lead to the conclusion that clean chit was given to the former Chief Minister of Punjab to Prakash Singh Badal in the Bargari case.
The newspaper concerned acted irresponsibly by giving a twisted heading in an apparent bid to sensationalise the interview, and these senior leaders are adding fuel to the fire by compounding the controversy, said the Chief Minister. Capt Amarinder also expressed his concerns over how the words of the senior leaders can have an adverse impact on the people of Punjab. "Don't they have any concern about the impact their words and actions can have on the people of Punjab, who want development in a peaceful environment?"
He called out the opposition for making baseless allegations as they do not have any constructive issues to raise. Capt Amarinder also spoke on how it was rather unfortunate of Pratap Singh Bajwa to join the attack instead of countering it with facts.
