A video showed a car crossing a makeshift bridge made of iron poles on a damaged road after heavy rainfall in Drekari area of Chamba district of Himachal.

As heavy rains damaged roads in Himachal Pradesh, a scary video showed a car using a makeshift bridge made of iron poles to cross a road in Drekari area of Chamba district. The viral video shows people guiding the driver as he attempts to cross a road that had caved in post heavy downpour.

This video prompted a flurry of reactions with some people applauding the talent of the driver and others calling it madness.

Himachal reels under rains

Several districts in Himachal Pradesh, including Shimla, Kangra, and Solan, have been reeling under a heavy downpour. The annual Manimahesh Yatra was temporarily halted after the bridge washed away on August 25, following heavy rainfall in the Chamba district. The Bharngala Nala bridge which connected Hadsar to Bharmour leached due to the downpour which resulted in the cancellation of the pilgrimage for the nonce. The National Highway-5 in Badhal village, Shimla district has also been blocked due to downpour.

Weather Forecast

According to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), light to moderate rainfall in all districts will follow which may take a turn for the worse. These regions are receiving heavy downpour as a result of the shifting of the western end of Axis of Monsoon towards southwards and the presence of Western Disturbance over northern parts of Jammy and Kashmir. These heavy rains have thumped the isolated areas in Himachal Pradesh causing extreme damage to life and property in the included states. Moreover, the reoccurring landslides have paused the life of locals along with the tourists.
