'Cauvery Calling' reaches Puducherry, Kiran Bedi welcomes Sadhguru

Sadhguru was welcomed by Puducherry Lieutenant Governor Dr. Kiran Bedi at the Raj Niwas on Sunday, the 'Cauvery Calling' rally is in its 13th day.

'Cauvery Calling' rally reached Puducherry on Sunday and was welcomed by Lieutenant Goverr Dr. Kiran Bedi. initiative is on its 13th day, and it took m a fortnight-long journey to reach Puducherry. Sadhguru thanked Dr. Bedi for giving a warm welcome to his entire entour.

‘Cauvery Calling’ initiative

Sadhguru is founder of Isha Foundation, a n-profit and spiritual organization. From September 3, he has commenced a motorcycle rally from Talacauvery, origin of Cauvery river in Karnataka, which will culminate in Chennai. Around 3500 km would be covered. aim of 'Cauvery Calling' rally is to seek public support for conservation of Cauvery river.  Isha Foundation has set a target of planting 242 crore trees in Cauvery basin, reby revitalizing river itself and improving lives of millions of farmers. focus would be on motivating farmers to switch from water-intensive crops to agroforestry. Basically, Agroforestry implies practice of growing fruit or timber trees along with full-time crops or on a full-fledged basis.

Dignitaries appreciate Sadhguru's efforts

Prime Minister Narendra Modi welcomed spiritual leader Sadhguru's ‘Cauvery Calling’ initiative before latter embarked on his journey. PM opined that this would help in harnessing and preventing unnecessary wast of water. During course of his travel, Sadhguru met several dignitaries such as Members of Parliament Shobha Karandlaje, OP Raveendranath Kumar and A Chellakumar, Tamil Nadu Higher Education Minister KP Anbazhaghan, former Lok Sabha deputy speaker M Thambidurai, Hosur Member of Legislative Assembly SA Sathya and so forth. Earlier in day, Puducherry Chief Minister V Narayanasamy, Minister for Welfare and Co-operation M Kandasamy and Public Works Department Minister A Namassivayam participated in a function along with Sadhguru to support  'Cauvery Calling' rally.
