CBI Faces Delay in Polygraph Test for Kolkata Rape-Murder Accused, No Lawyer Ready To Represent Him
The CBI is facing a delay in polygraph testing of the Kolkata rape-murder accused Sanjoy Roy as no lawyer is willing to represent him.

Kolkata: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has encountered a delay in conducting a polygraph test on Sanjoy Roy, a 33-year-old civic volunteer accused of raping and murdering a 31-year-old doctor at RG Kar Medical College and Hospital in Kolkata. Although a district court in Sealdah granted initial permission for polygraph test, process was postponed on Tuesday due to lack of legal representation for Roy.
As per reports, lawyer was initially willing to represent him, causing a delay in briefing him about test's physical and psychological aspects. A legal aid counsel has been assigned to inform Roy about physical and psychological aspects of test. CBI can proceed with polygraph test once Roy provides his consent.

A polygraph test, or lie detector test, is a scientific method that measures physiological responses—such as heartbeat, breathing changes, sweating, and blood pressure—to questions asked.
case has ignited widespre protests and intense political debate across country. CBI, which took over investigation from Kolkata Police on August 14 following Calcutta High Court's order, is also considering enhanced security measures for Roy due to public anger.

incident has brought scrutiny to hospital's operations, leing to resignation of its principal, Sandip Ghosh, two days after doctor's body was discovered on August 9. CBI is w considering conducting a polygraph test on Ghosh as well, following discrepancies in his responses during questioning.
Meanwhile, Supreme Court has requested a status report from CBI on August 22. case has escalated into a major political issue, with BJP demanding resignation of West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee, accusing her of destroying evidence to protect those involved.
