Free LPG refills to Pradhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana beneficiaries for 3 months: Centre

The Central government on Sunday said that under the Pradhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), free LPG refills will be provided to PMUY beneficiaries

Central government on Sunday said that under Prhan Mantri Garib Kalyan Yojana (PMGKY), free LPG refills will be provided to Prhan Mantri Ujjwala Yojana (PMUY) beneficiaries over a period of three months from April to June 2020.  oil marketing companies have initiated transfer of Rs 5,606 crore to about 7.15 crore PMUY beneficiary accounts for availing free delivery of LPG cylinder under PMGKY.

"Since lockdown, about 60 lakh cylinders are being delivered daily in country," statement re.

statement furr stated that  scheme was started on April 1 and will continue till June 30. Under scheme, oil marketing companies have been transferring an vance equal to RSP of one 14.2 kg refill or one 5 kg refill depending upon of pack to linked bank account of PMUY customer. customer can use this vance money to take LPG refill.

Ex gratia of Rs 5 lakh

Furrmore, oil marketing companies -- IOCL, BPCL and HPCL -- have also anunced an ex gratia amount of Rs 5 lakh each as a one-time special measure, in unfortunate case of demise of personnel like showroom staff, godown-keepers, mechanics and delivery boys, attending duty in LPG distributorship chain, due to infection and impact of COVID-19.

LPG cylinder delivery boys have continued with ir duty and ensured timely delivery despite threat of getting infected with coronavirus. From mountaius terrain to backwaters, hamlets in deserts to habitations in forests, se 'corona warriors' have been stefast in ir duties and ensuring timely delivery.

Even in se trying times, se 'corona warriors' have ensured that waiting period for cylinders at most places is less than two days.
