Centre Extends Intelligence Bureau Chief Tapan Kumar Deka's Tenure By 1 Year

The central government extended Intelligence Bureau chief Tapan Kumar Deka’s tenure by one year.

New Delhi: The central government on Monday extended Intelligence Bureau (IB) chief Tapan Kumar Deka’s tenure by one year, who was completing his tenure on June 30, this year. According to the Union government, the Cabinet approved the proposal to extend Deka’s tenure on Monday giving him a one-year extension till June 2025.

Tapan Kumar Deka is a 1988-batch Indian Police Service (IPS) officer of the Himachal Pradesh cadre, who served at various posts in several security agencies before taking over the charge as the Director of the Intelligence Bureau.

As per an order issued by the central government, the Appointments Committee of the Cabinet has approved the extension in service of Deka as the Director, Intelligence Bureau, for a period of one year beyond June 30, 2024.
