New allies NCP and Shiv Sena on Monday blasted BJP-led government at Centre over police action against students of Delhi's Jamia Millia Islamia (JMI) and amended Citizenship Act as NDA le party came under increasing criticism over new law.
Criticising Centre over police crackdown on those protesting Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) in Delhi, NCP said such "muzzling" of voices was unfortunate and asked Modi government to re-think over new law given opposition to it. "It has to be probed about how violence was stoked. police's role comes under scanner when peaceful protests turn violent," Malik said. He said BJP "does t understand" that people have to be taken into confidence while running a government.
" government should re-think on this, respecting sentiments of people, or else matter is before judiciary," he said.NCP spokesman Sanjay Tatkare also expressed a similar view.

Shiv Sena attacks BJP
Meanwhile, Shiv Sena, a former ally of BJP which h supported Citizenship (Amendment) Bill (CAB) in Lok Sabha last week, accused NDA government of stifling voices of people.
" BJP has habit of imposing decisions on people of country like it h imposed demonetisation, GST and or decisions on m," Shiv Sena spokesperson Manisha Kayande told PTI over phone.
She alleged it was BJP's style of functioning that it does t answer questions people raise and ded Sena's queries in connection with CAB, too, were t replied.
"y are stifling voices. y muzzled voices during Aarey protest (in Mumbai) too... protests are on across country w (over CAA). It is ir style of functioning y do t take people into confidence," Kayande ded.
Kayande was referring to protests by citizens and environmentalists against cutting of trees for a Metro crashed in Aarey Colony, a green belt in suburban Goregaon.
