Chandigarh govt declares Coronavirus an epidemic, issues regulations to contain the spread

After Maharashtra, Chandigarh ministration's Department of Health and Family Welfare on Sunday declared outbreak of Coronavirus as an epidemic. As per reports, authorities have issued several regulations to contain spre of virus under Section 2,3 and 4 of Epidemic Disease Act, 1897.
Reportedly, under Act, all hospitals in region have been directed to create special wards for screening of suspected Coronavirus cases. Along with it, all government and private hospitals in region have been directed to record travel history of suspected cases.

On March 7, Chandigarh ministrator, VP Bre h suspended bio-metric attendance system in government/private institutions till furr tice.
Issuing a tification, ministration h said, " Chandigarh ministration has taken all measures with regard to containment measures being taken to avoid spre of said disease by setting up 24X7 helpline, dedicated ambulance and fully equipped isolation wards in all three hospitals namely GMSH-16, GMCH-32& PGIMER."

Coronavirus in India
As of date, total number of positive cases in India has soared up to around 107 as per Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Along with it, two deaths have been reported in Kalaburagi and West Delhi respectively. India has suspended all visas, barring for a few categories such as diplomatic and employment apart from keeping in abeyance visa-free travel facility to OCI cardholders till April 15.

Moreover, Centre has “strongly vised” Indians to avoid all n-essential travel abro. government is also monitoring all suspected cases and issued preventive visories.

Coronavirus outbreak
First detected in Wuhan in December 2019, COVID-19- vel coronavirus has affected nearly 135 countries in world. Presently, re are over 142,649 confirmed cases of COVID-19 which has led to death of 5,393 people. As re is vaccine or specific antiviral medicine to treat COVID-19, countries have been grappling with all possible mechanisms to contain its scope. So far, China, South Korea, Italy, and Iran have witnessed most number of confirmed cases of vel coronavirus.
