Chandrayaan 2: FM Nirmala, Smriti Irani say, 'India stands with ISRO'

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and Union Minister for Textiles and Women & Child Development Smriti Irani on Saturday stood by ISRO after the space organisation lost contact with Vikram Lander during amid the descent of Chandrayaan 2 on the surface of the moon. FM Nirmala Sitharaman said that ISRO brought the youth and everyone together as it worked in its purpose of the space mission. "We are with you... You will succeed," she tweeted. Irani said that the journey of Chandrayaan 2 was no less than an achievement.

ISRO on Vikram Lander losing contact

Towards the final moments of the historic feat, just before it landed on the surface of the Moon, the mission suffered some technical glitches. As it stands, ISRO's Twitter handle shared that they have lost communication at 3:00am IST. Speaking about the situation, ISRO Chairman K Sivan confirmed in a statement that contact with Vikram was lost at about 2.1 kilometers above the Moon's surface. He added that the ground station is analysing the data.
