Chandrayaan 2: Mathura dedicates 'Chhappan Bhog' to ISRO scientists

Mathura's famous 'Chhappan Bhog' on September 12 will be dedicated to the Chandrayaan-2 and ISRO scientists in the Moon mission, the organising committee said.

Mathura's famous 'Chhappan Bhog' this year on September 12 will be dedicated to Chandrayaan-2 project and ISRO scientists involved in Moon mission, an officer-bearer of organising committee said on Monday. Murari Agrawal, founder-president of Sri Giriraj Seva Samiti, which organises community offering event, said y would also pray for success of country's future endeavour to explore Moon.

He said y have extended invitations to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Indian Research Organisation (ISRO) scientists associated with Chandrayaan-2 and Chandrayaan-3 projects and ir family members. "We have decided to give Chandrayaan-3 shape to improvised sanctum sanctorum of temple with gems and jewels. Brijwasis would pray for success of Chandrayaan-3," Agrawal said. For preparing 21,000-kilogram "Prasam (offering)" with cow ghee and or items, expert religious cooks from Luckw, Agra, Hathras, Indore, Ratlam and Murai are working for about 10 hours daily, Agrawal said. He ded that religious cooks from Bengaluru, city that houses ISRO hequarters, and Kolkata have prepared model of what he called Chandrayaan-3 and its rover.

What is Chappan Bhog?

Chhappan Bhog -- pras (offerings) me with 56 different items -- is a community offering organised to please deity for welfare of society. According to Hindu tritions, such offering was organised to please lord Krishna during Dwapar period. Chhappan Bhog is a part of a three-day programme that begins on Tuesday, September 10, with a 23-km circumambulation around Govardhan hillock, with Lord Krishna on a chariot. While Maha Abhishekam of deity would take place on September 11, Chhappan Bhog has been slated for following day, Agrawal said. organisers expect that at least four lakh pilgrims are likely to join programme on at least one of days, he said. Samiti is a group of over 100 people which organises Chhappan Bhog every year. Often y dedicate ir prayer to some special causes.

Chandrayaan 2: ISRO continues mission

Indian Research Organisation (ISRO) on Monday said that Vikram lander is tilted, but in one piece. "It h a hard-landing very close to planned (touch-down) site as per ims sent by on-board camera of orbiter. lander is re as a single piece, t broken into pieces. It's in a tilted position," an ISRO official associated with mission claimed to PTI. ISRO Chairman on Sunday h also said to ANI that y have spotted location of Vikram Lander on Lunar surface. Sivan also said that Chandrayaan 2's orbiter has ed a rmal im of Vikram Lander. Sivan told PTI that Vikram's landing must have been a hard-landing.
